Technical Spec's

One of the significant differences between our tools and others is the design and geometry. All our tools are designed for minimum resistance. The forks have very slim sharp tynes and the trowels have a conical section so that they don't jam, and are properly shaped and sharpened. The over-riding feature is that the handle is in line with the working end. This means that the tool is neutral on the wrist, in contrast with most tools which are bent and out of line. Our tools are cranked to not only give finger space but be in line to eliminate tension stress. Because we hand craft a high proportion of the manufacture of our tools we are able to assist folk who have all sorts of disabilities and requirements and enjoy the challenge of designing and making special hand tools to enable folk to still potter in the garden.

HANDLES
The handles are made of tawa, a hardwood, and coated with an acrylic varnish used as an over glaze in the automotive industry. All handles are glued on with an extremely strong epoxy resin. The ferrules are made of deep drawn brass.

SUPERFORK
Tynes are the largest ramset pins which are made of a very tough tool steel. Ramset use only one swedish steel supplier for their stock world wide. The tang and frame is a fabrication of low carbon steel and the whole tool is electrogalvinised.

SUPERFORK 2 and EUROFORK
Is a one piece casting of 17-4-ph stainless steel, again a very tough hardenable stainless steel. The casting method is investment casting using the lost wax process.

SUPERTROWEL and PLANTER TROWEL
The blade material is 304 grade stainless, once again a very high grade, and the tangs are made from 17-4-ph the same as the Superfork 2 and they are brazed with a high silver nickle alloy.

LONG and MIDDY TOOLS
These are the same high quality tools, with the wooden handle replaced by an aluminium alloy pipe and a durable vinyl grip. Once again strong but lightweight.
